I was with a very good client weeks ago and as we planned the social media strategy for the organization, a question popped up?

What will you do differently today and the rest of this week.

He is moving around the house now trying to crawl and walk at the same time, we do have to rearrange things many times around the house :) His mum thinks, I am his play partner now- he has taught me to play more...

Have you ever felt some tasks were
way beyond being possible or have you ever felt like you were at your tether’s
end and you were about giving up?

Today, I bring you great inspiration
from the life of the amazing bird, Eagle.
I love the Eagle!... Most of the 60
species of Eagles are from Eurasia and Africa
The Eagle has been noted as the
symbol of strength, bravery and courage, while other birds shy away from the
storm with fear, an eagle stays happy and calm in the face of any storm, it
spreads its wings and uses the current of the storm to its advantage and soars.
Eagles have the longest life span and
may live for up to 70 years.
It
achieves this by retreating into a painful process of change in its 40s
on a mountain top for 150 days, about 5 months, after which it comes out younger,
stronger and healthier for its famous rebirth flight and lives for another 30
years.
Ladies and gentlemen, It will interest you to know that the eagle has
a very strong vision which focuses up to 5km from the air...
There are many lessons from the life
of an eagle, but the one that really drives home my point is the interesting
story of this small eagle.
Story
Fellow TMs and guests, please come
with me. Once upon a time, at a large mountain side, there was an eagle nest
with 4 large eagle eggs inside.
One day, an earthquake rocked the
mountain causing one of the eggs to roll down the lush grass land located in
the valley below...
A farmer picked it up, went to his
farm and said to his wife “this is a special kind of egg; it will hatch and
grow big into a special barnyard chicken”
Eventually the eagle egg hatched and
a beautiful eagle was born . But being with chickens, the eagle was only raised
to be a chicken. He loved his home and family but it seemed his heart cried out
for more.
One day the eagle looked to the skies
above and noticed a group of mighty eagles soaring, he wondered aloud, “what
kind of bird is that? How graceful, powerful and free it is! I wish I could
soar like those birds”
The chickens roared with laughter
“Oh! Don’t you worry, yourself...that is an eagle, you are a chicken and
chickens don’t soar, you will never be able to fly like that!”
This eagle felt sad...but he kept
staring at the sky at his real family and he kept thinking and talking about
his dreams every time.
One fateful day, a young Shepherd boy
came to visit the farmer and was surprised to see the eagle strutting around
with chickens, pecking at the ground and acting very much like a chicken.
The farmer explained to him, how the
bird was no longer an eagle but now a chicken because he has been trained to be
a chicken and he believes he is a chicken.
The
Shepherd boy knew there was more
to this great bird than his actions showed . He was born an eagle and had the
heart of an eagle, and nothing could change that. So he lifted the eagle onto
the fence surrounding the chicken coop and said, “Eagle, thou art an eagle.
Stretch forth thy wings and fly.” The eagle moved slightly, only to look at the
boy; then he glanced down at his comfortable home among the chickens in the
chicken coop . He jumped off the fence and continued doing what chickens do.
The farmer was satisfied. “I told you it was a chicken,” he said.
The Shepherd boy returned the next
day and tried again to convince the farmer and the eagle that the eagle was
born for something greater. He took the eagle to the top of the farmhouse and
spoke to him: “Eagle, thou art an eagle. Thou dost belong to the sky and not to
the earth. Stretch forth thy wings and fly.” The large bird looked at the boy,
then again down into the chicken coop. He jumped from the boy's arm onto the
roof of the farmhouse.
The Shepherd boy knowing what eagles are really about, asked
the farmer to let him try one more time. He would return the next day and prove
that this bird was an eagle. The farmer, convinced otherwise, said, “It is a
chicken.”
So the Shepherd boy returned the next
morning to the chicken farm and took the eagle and the farmer some distance
away to the foot of a high mountain. They could not see the farm nor the
chicken coop from this place. The boy held the eagle on his arm and pointed
high into the sky where the bright sun was beckoning above. He spoke: “Eagle,
thou art an eagle! Thou dost belong to the sky and not to the earth. Stretch
forth thy wings and fly.” This time the eagle stared skyward into the bright
sun, straightened his large body, and stretched his massive wings. His wings
moved, slowly at first, then surely and powerfully. With the mighty screech of
an eagle, he flew.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a
position when it seems things are not working , when we feel our efforts are
not paying off, at such moments we feel we are a monotonous walk on a treadmill
and then we feel like giving up...
At such moments, we need the tenacity of that young eagle to
fire the dreams in our hearts... remember the story of the eagle and the words
of the old Philosopher Jalaluddin Rumi who said:
