My Evolving Journey on Personal and Financial Mastery

My conversations around making and managing money evolved from an early age.

Having helped out at the family store from age 10, I went from helping with cold water sales at the store after school hours to managing sales and Snooker or pool table at our games arcade around age 13.

To complement the monthly allowance from my parents I moved on to starting my own business at 19 as an undergraduate from selling electrical equipment (multimeters) to my course mates to repairing mobile phones, founding an investor club with my best friend and organizing our first stock market seminar while on campus.

Being fascinated by financial success stories and possibilities from a young age, I grew up with the desire to become financially free and live above limits in all respect.

This journey for personal and financial mastery has led me to work for different companies and tried a couple of side businesses while learning new skills, attending many seminars, workshops, trainings, connecting with mentors and also reading hundreds of books on Personal Development and Personal finance on my journey to financial freedom.

Today, I help individuals who are ready to embark on their journey to financial freedom by increasing their financial intelligence with processes and strategies that will increase their financial intelligence by growing their knowledge, skills, discovering and unleashing hidden talents, installing new habits and applying proven ideas and strategies that help them achieve personal mastery and fast-track their journey to financial freedom.

Financial prosperity is a state of financial abundance. It is one of the most desired attributes worldwide. As the world continues to groan in anguish due to the global financial crisis, it is expedient for individual to crave for financial prosperity. It must however be stated categorically, that financial prosperity does not come suddenly, neither is it acquired by any formula. It is a careful step-by-step process, which must be patiently implemented by any individual desirous of financial success. These secrets have always been there for ages.

What are these steps?

•Become an Investor
Only those who invest become financially prosperous. To acquire great wealth, you must be ready to take on great financial problems. Most people are financially stagnant, because they avoid financial problems. There are different categories of investors: There are those who seek problems. Some seek answers, while the third categories are those who know nothing. To become financially prosperous, begin to acquire the skills needed by business owners and investors, and seek to solve bigger problems... because inside every big problem lies huge financial opportunities.

As the global economic crisis is raging, and the U.S stock continues to fall dangerously, Warren Buffet, the Billionaire Investor, did something incredible. He started buying U.S stock, saying, "They are good investment" He equally advised other investors to buy U.S stocks. His formula for investment was: when stocks are falling, and people are selling their stock due to panic in the stock market, go ahead and buy. Warren Buffet went ahead to predict that these same U.S stocks that people are avoiding like plagues would rise again in the next seven to ten years.

•Mind your own business
The bedrock to financial prosperity is the ability of the individual to set a long-term financial goal or a smaller, short-term financial goal. Build upon the smaller financial goal, and use it as a stepping-stone on your way to your long-term financial goal.

•Seek mentors
A mentor is an experienced person who advises and helps somebody with less experience over a period of time. One of the benefits of having a mentor by your side is that the probability of you failing is greatly reduced. Your journey toward your set goals and objectives is greatly quickened with the aid of a good mentor.

•Turn every disappointment to strength
Be prepared for disappointment on your journey towards financial prosperity. If you are prepared for disappointment, you have a chance of turning every disappointment into an asset. Thomas Edison, the great inventor, was a man who had a first hand knowledge of what it means to face disappointment. Never allow disappointment hinder you from seeing the boundless opportunities around you. A great motivational speaker once said and I quote: "the size of your success is measured by the strength of your dream, and how you handle disappointment along the way.

•Control your spending habit
The solution to financial problem is the ability to manage in a most efficient, efficient, effective and productive manner; not in earning more. It requires a lot financial discipline to attain financial prosperity. Some individuals lack financial discipline. They buy everything that attracts their fancy, whether they need it or not. To attain financial prosperity, you must control your spending habit. Some individuals spend above their income, and even pile up debt awaiting their income. The end result is that their expenditure becomes higher than their monthly income. Live within your means and never spend beyond your monthly income. Put aside a specific percentage from your monthly income, and deposit that money into an investment scheme.
Never go back to draw out from that money, until you ready to invest it.

•Acquire Financial Intelligence
Some individuals have leaky pockets. Money never stays within their pockets.As soon as money comes in, it goes out as fast as it came in. This is not a sign of financial intelligence. What is financial intelligence? It is the ability to focus on acquiring assets, not working harder. It is the ability to convert cash into assets. When an individual is financially intelligent, his income will always be higher than his expenses.

•Innovation of strategic Method
This is the introduction of fresh and brilliant ideas. To increase your chances of attaining financial prosperity, you must be able to implement different strategy to get different result.

To become financially prosperous, you have to do things extra ordinarily and apply unique strategies.

1.Money Mastery isn’t taught in Schools.
No traditional school teaches you about money with regards to Wealth creation, Wealth Multiplication and Wealth management. This is why you need to take concerted effort at investing in your own financial Education.
Financial Intelligence is the key to the vehicle of financial Independence. You raise your earnings by raising your learning with regards to Financial Education.

2.Money Answers to Action
It’s not what you know about money, but what you do with what you know that really matter on your way to hitting it big!
Wake up and see for yourself how much your knowledge has helped you, until you have taken necessary action in certain direction.
You have to do something about your money situation other than worrying to really make any significant headway.

3.Money has got no emotions
You see, money doesn’t respect age, the market place doesn’t care who you are or how old you are. That is why you have teen millionaires and as well as old millionaires, the same is true for the young and old broke people. Money doesn’t come to you by crying about it, this is why you see great investors get over their emotions while investing. The two emotions you will usually need to get past when it comes to money are the emotions of greed and fear.

4. Money Answers to Value
The iron filings will always flow in the direction of pull of the magnetic force. Simply also, money also answers in the direction of value, no matter who provides the value. Money is always a measure of value. Your value addition either solves a problem or creates a solution. If you want more money then learn to add more value by becoming a person of value.

5. Personal Mastery is Vital to Money Mastery
I am always of the belief that Personal Mastery is a prerequisite to money mastery. By developing yourself to a point of excellence especially in line with your financial goals, you become someone who adds value and in turn attracts money and even more money to yourself.


6. Money Mastery is raising your consciousness about money
To gain mastery of money you need to raise your consciousness or financial IQ, especially creasing your knowledge about generating, creating, multiplication, and managing of money. I always believe that what you don’t know can hurt you, but what you know and act on, can change your life in more ways than one, this is why you must invest in your own financial education. You might need to start reading books on investing, pay attention to business news, personal finance blogs or magazines, joining investment groups and so forth.

7. Money is not scarce
There is no scarcity of money. As a matter of fact, there is no justification whatsoever to prove the scarcity of money, instead, there is abundance. You will see that we have enough money to move around in the world. Money exists in abundance, but it only flows to people who understand certain laws regarding how it’s acquired. The earlier you start seeing things from this perspective, the better.

I have had one of my mentors shared with me a small book with a short, life-changing story. I will share this book with as many people as possible, but here, I will like to share an interesting story from it first.

INTRODUCTION

In the last five years, I have read over 20,000 pages of books on success, leadership, financial intelligence, change management etc. Of all, one book has had the most impact on me. The book has literally transformed me from who I was to who I am now. The book is the smallest of all the books. it has just 9 pages. Part 1

The Parable Of The Pipeline by Burke Hedges

Once upon a time long, long ago, two ambitious young cousins named Pablo and Bruno lived side by side in a small Italian village. The young men were best buddies, and big dreamers. They would talk endlessly about how someday, someway, they would become the richest men in the village. They were both bright and hard working. All they needed was an opportunity. One day that opportunity arrived. The village decided to hire two men to carry water from a nearby river to a cistern in the town square. The job went to Pablo and Bruno. Each man grabbed two buckets and headed to the river. By the end of the day, they had filled the town cistern to the brim. The village elder paid them one penny for each bucket of water. "This is our dream come true! "shouted Bruno. "I can't believe our good fortune." But Pablo wasn't so sure. His back ached and his hands were blistered from carrying the heavy buckets. He dreaded getting up and going to work the next morning. He vowed to think of a better way to get the water from the river to the village.
Pablo The Pipeline Man: "Bruno, I have a plan," Pablo said the next morning as they grabbed their buckets and headed for the river. "Instead of lugging buckets back and forth for pennies a day, let's build a pipeline from the village to the river." Bruno stopped dead in his tracks. "A pipeline! Whoever heard of such a thing?" Bruno shouted. "We've got a great job, Pablo. I can carry 100 buckets a day. At a penny a bucket that's a dollar a day! I'm rich!. By the end of the week, I can buy a new pair of shoes. By the end of the month a cow. By the end of six months I can buy a new hut. We have the best job in town. We have
weekends off and two weeks paid vacation every year. We're set for life! Get out of here with your pipeline." But Pablo was not easily discouraged. He patiently explained the pipeline plan to his best friend. Pablo would work part of the day carrying buckets, and part of the day and weekends building his pipeline. He knew it would be hard work digging a ditch in the rocky soil. Because he was paid by the bucket he knew his income would drop. He also knew it might take a year or two before his pipeline would pay off. But Pablo believed in his dream and he went to work. Bruno and the rest of the villagers began mocking Pablo, calling him "Pablo The Pipeline Man." Bruno, who was earning almost twice the money as Pablo, flaunted his new purchases. He bought a donkey outfitted with a new leather saddle, which he kept parked outside his new two-story hut. He bought flashy clothes and fancy meals at the inn. The villagers called him Mr. Bruno, and they cheered when he bought rounds at the tavern and laughed loudly at his jokes.
Small Actions Equal Big Results: While Bruno lay in his hammock on evenings and weekends, Pablo kept digging his pipeline. The first few months Pablo didn't have much to show for his efforts. The work was hard, even harder than Bruno's because Pablo was working evenings and weekends too. But Pablo kept reminding himself that tomorrow’s dreams are built on todays sacrifices. Day by day he dug, inch by inch. Inches turned into one foot............. then ten feet............ then 20............. then 100. "Short-term pain equals long-term gain," he reminded himself as he stumbled into his hut after another exhausting day's work. "In time my reward will exceed my efforts," he thought. "Keep your eyes on the prize," he kept thinking as he drifted off to sleep with the sounds of laughter from the village tavern in the background.
The Tables Are Turned: Days turned into months. One day Pablo realized his pipeline was half-way finished, which meant he only had to walk half as far to fill his buckets! Pablo used the extra time to work on his pipeline. During his rest breaks, Pablo watched his old friend Bruno lug buckets. Bruno's shoulders were more stooped than ever. He was hunched in pain, his steps slowed by the daily grind. Bruno was angry and sullen, resenting the fact that he was doomed to carry buckets, day in, day out, for the rest of his life. He began to spend less time in his hammock and more time in the tavern. When the tavern's patrons saw Bruno coming they'd whisper, "Here comes Bruno the Bucket Man, " and they giggle when the town drunk mimicked Bruno's stooped posture and shuffling gait. Bruno didn't buy rounds or tell jokes anymore, preferring to sit alone in a dark corner surrounded by empty bottles. Finally Pablo's big day arrived, his pipeline was complete! The villagers crowded around as the water gushed from the pipeline into the village cistern! Now that the village had a steady supply of fresh water, people from around the countryside moved into the village and the village prospered. Once the pipeline was complete, Pablo didn't have to carry buckets anymore. The water flowed whether he worked or not. It flowed while he ate. It flowed while he slept. It flowed on weekends while he played. The more the water flowed into the village, the more money flowed into Pablo's pockets! Pablo the Pipeline Man became known as Pablo the Miracle Maker. But Pablo understood what he did wasn't a miracle. It was merely the first stage of a big, big dream. You see, Pablo had bigger plans. Pablo planned on building pipelines all over the world!.
Recruiting His Friend To Help: The pipeline drove "Bruno The Bucket Man" out of business, and it pained Pablo to see his old friend begging for drinks at the tavern. So, Pablo arranged a meeting with his old friend. "Bruno, I've come here to ask you for your help." Bruno straightened his stooped shoulders, and his dark eyes narrowed to a squint. "Don't mock me," Bruno hissed. "I haven't come here to gloat," said Pablo. "I've come here to offer you a great business opportunity. It took me more than two years Before my first pipeline was complete. But I've learned a lot during those two years. I know what tools to use now, and where to dig. I know where to lay the pipe. I kept notes as I went along so now I have a system that will allow me to build another pipeline in less time........... then another........... then another. I could build a pipeline a year by myself, but what I plan on doing is teach you how to build a pipeline, then have you teach others and have them teach others. "Just think, we could make a small percentage of every gallon of water that goes through those pipelines." Bruno finally saw the big picture. They shook hands and hugged like old friends.
Pipeline Dreams In A Bucket-Carrying World: Years passed. Their world pipelines were pumping millions of dollars into their bank accounts. Sometimes on their trips through the countryside, Pablo and Bruno would pass villagers from other villages carrying buckets. The friends would pull over and tell them their story and offer to help them build a pipeline. But sadly, most bucket carriers would hastily dismiss the notion. "I don't have the time." "My friend told me he knew a friend who's uncle's best friend tried to build a pipeline and failed." "Only the ones who get in early make money on a pipeline." "I've carried buckets my whole life, I'll stick to what I know." "I know people who lost money in a pipeline scam." Both men resigned themselves to the fact they lived in a world with a bucket-carrying mentality............. and only a very small percentage of people would ever see the vision.
