PARABLE OF THE PIPELINE

I have had one of my mentors shared with me a small book with a short, life-changing story. I will share this book with as many people as possible, but here, I will like to share an interesting story from it first.

INTRODUCTION

In the last five years, I have read over 20,000 pages of books on success, leadership, financial intelligence, change management etc. Of all, one book has had the most impact on me. The book has literally transformed me from who I was to who I am now. The book is the smallest of all the books. it has just 9 pages. Part 1

The Parable Of The Pipeline by Burke Hedges

Once upon a time long, long ago, two ambitious young cousins named Pablo and Bruno lived side by side in a small Italian village. The young men were best buddies, and big dreamers. They would talk endlessly about how someday, someway, they would become the richest men in the village. They were both bright and hard working. All they needed was an opportunity. One day that opportunity arrived. The village decided to hire two men to carry water from a nearby river to a cistern in the town square. The job went to Pablo and Bruno. Each man grabbed two buckets and headed to the river. By the end of the day, they had filled the town cistern to the brim. The village elder paid them one penny for each bucket of water. "This is our dream come true! "shouted Bruno. "I can't believe our good fortune." But Pablo wasn't so sure. His back ached and his hands were blistered from carrying the heavy buckets. He dreaded getting up and going to work the next morning. He vowed to think of a better way to get the water from the river to the village.
Pablo The Pipeline Man: "Bruno, I have a plan," Pablo said the next morning as they grabbed their buckets and headed for the river. "Instead of lugging buckets back and forth for pennies a day, let's build a pipeline from the village to the river." Bruno stopped dead in his tracks. "A pipeline! Whoever heard of such a thing?" Bruno shouted. "We've got a great job, Pablo. I can carry 100 buckets a day. At a penny a bucket that's a dollar a day! I'm rich!. By the end of the week, I can buy a new pair of shoes. By the end of the month a cow. By the end of six months I can buy a new hut. We have the best job in town. We have
weekends off and two weeks paid vacation every year. We're set for life! Get out of here with your pipeline." But Pablo was not easily discouraged. He patiently explained the pipeline plan to his best friend. Pablo would work part of the day carrying buckets, and part of the day and weekends building his pipeline. He knew it would be hard work digging a ditch in the rocky soil. Because he was paid by the bucket he knew his income would drop. He also knew it might take a year or two before his pipeline would pay off. But Pablo believed in his dream and he went to work. Bruno and the rest of the villagers began mocking Pablo, calling him "Pablo The Pipeline Man." Bruno, who was earning almost twice the money as Pablo, flaunted his new purchases. He bought a donkey outfitted with a new leather saddle, which he kept parked outside his new two-story hut. He bought flashy clothes and fancy meals at the inn. The villagers called him Mr. Bruno, and they cheered when he bought rounds at the tavern and laughed loudly at his jokes.
Small Actions Equal Big Results: While Bruno lay in his hammock on evenings and weekends, Pablo kept digging his pipeline. The first few months Pablo didn't have much to show for his efforts. The work was hard, even harder than Bruno's because Pablo was working evenings and weekends too. But Pablo kept reminding himself that tomorrow’s dreams are built on todays sacrifices. Day by day he dug, inch by inch. Inches turned into one foot............. then ten feet............ then 20............. then 100. "Short-term pain equals long-term gain," he reminded himself as he stumbled into his hut after another exhausting day's work. "In time my reward will exceed my efforts," he thought. "Keep your eyes on the prize," he kept thinking as he drifted off to sleep with the sounds of laughter from the village tavern in the background.
The Tables Are Turned: Days turned into months. One day Pablo realized his pipeline was half-way finished, which meant he only had to walk half as far to fill his buckets! Pablo used the extra time to work on his pipeline. During his rest breaks, Pablo watched his old friend Bruno lug buckets. Bruno's shoulders were more stooped than ever. He was hunched in pain, his steps slowed by the daily grind. Bruno was angry and sullen, resenting the fact that he was doomed to carry buckets, day in, day out, for the rest of his life. He began to spend less time in his hammock and more time in the tavern. When the tavern's patrons saw Bruno coming they'd whisper, "Here comes Bruno the Bucket Man, " and they giggle when the town drunk mimicked Bruno's stooped posture and shuffling gait. Bruno didn't buy rounds or tell jokes anymore, preferring to sit alone in a dark corner surrounded by empty bottles. Finally Pablo's big day arrived, his pipeline was complete! The villagers crowded around as the water gushed from the pipeline into the village cistern! Now that the village had a steady supply of fresh water, people from around the countryside moved into the village and the village prospered. Once the pipeline was complete, Pablo didn't have to carry buckets anymore. The water flowed whether he worked or not. It flowed while he ate. It flowed while he slept. It flowed on weekends while he played. The more the water flowed into the village, the more money flowed into Pablo's pockets! Pablo the Pipeline Man became known as Pablo the Miracle Maker. But Pablo understood what he did wasn't a miracle. It was merely the first stage of a big, big dream. You see, Pablo had bigger plans. Pablo planned on building pipelines all over the world!.
Recruiting His Friend To Help: The pipeline drove "Bruno The Bucket Man" out of business, and it pained Pablo to see his old friend begging for drinks at the tavern. So, Pablo arranged a meeting with his old friend. "Bruno, I've come here to ask you for your help." Bruno straightened his stooped shoulders, and his dark eyes narrowed to a squint. "Don't mock me," Bruno hissed. "I haven't come here to gloat," said Pablo. "I've come here to offer you a great business opportunity. It took me more than two years Before my first pipeline was complete. But I've learned a lot during those two years. I know what tools to use now, and where to dig. I know where to lay the pipe. I kept notes as I went along so now I have a system that will allow me to build another pipeline in less time........... then another........... then another. I could build a pipeline a year by myself, but what I plan on doing is teach you how to build a pipeline, then have you teach others and have them teach others. "Just think, we could make a small percentage of every gallon of water that goes through those pipelines." Bruno finally saw the big picture. They shook hands and hugged like old friends.
Pipeline Dreams In A Bucket-Carrying World: Years passed. Their world pipelines were pumping millions of dollars into their bank accounts. Sometimes on their trips through the countryside, Pablo and Bruno would pass villagers from other villages carrying buckets. The friends would pull over and tell them their story and offer to help them build a pipeline. But sadly, most bucket carriers would hastily dismiss the notion. "I don't have the time." "My friend told me he knew a friend who's uncle's best friend tried to build a pipeline and failed." "Only the ones who get in early make money on a pipeline." "I've carried buckets my whole life, I'll stick to what I know." "I know people who lost money in a pipeline scam." Both men resigned themselves to the fact they lived in a world with a bucket-carrying mentality............. and only a very small percentage of people would ever see the vision.

GRATEFUL FOR A TRIUMPH

TRIUMPH:
noun (plural triumphs)
A conclusive success following an effort, conflict, or confrontation of obstacles; victory; conquest.

From the very definition of triumph or victory, we can clearly see that triumph does not come without a measure of effort or obstacles. No battles fought; no victory won. Today I am grateful for triumph, being thankful for a triumph is an arduous task because as a young person, I have a thousand and one triumphs I will forever be thankful for.

I will run with these while sharing a couple of stories.

From the spirituality perspective, I thank God for triumph over lack,sin and sickness! And a new ticket to health, wealth, holiness and purposeful living. This comes through a personal relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ.

I am grateful for the Triumph of Good over evil everyday. No matter how deep the evil cloud of darkness, there will be silver lining and in short moments the sun will shine and darkness will give way to light.

Many years ago I set out to share my writings online and from the newspaper, about this time I began to learn more about intrepreneurship (ways of doing business and making money online), however, I never did make any of the money until sometimes last year when I received my first cheques from Google. The cheque might not be a million bucks, however, It is a taste of triumph.

A similar instance to this was my first earning in Network Marketing, prior to this time I had joined a network marketing business as an undergraduate, but I never had a taste of rewards and at some point I couldn't seem to connect the dots between my field of study- Electrical& Electronics Engineering with the product lines- vitamins etc. , so I quitted about6 months after joining. However, about a year ago after careful research, I joined the Network Marketing Company I am with now A2W , and I have discovered a vast variety of exciting products, I have also met a highly motivated team of people and I continue to have a taste of reward as I build a viable team on our way to being becoming financially intelligent and financially free.

These and many more are instances of triumphs for which I am ever grateful.

5 WAYS THE RICH AND WEALTHY CREATE WEALTH

In previous posts on Money and Financial Intelligence , I started by laying the foundation on the nature of money and the ways of earning or making money and the two broad types of earned income (Passive and Active Income) you can catch up on these here;

Further on, since the Rich and Wealthy do not work for money, but have money work for them, then we can reaffirm that the rich and wealthy (Investors and Business Owners) earn passive income- they create Systems, while the poor and middle class who are usually employees and Self employed continue to work for money and hence make active income.

I will take a quick look into the 5 Ways of Earning Passive Income, I will treat each of them in greater details in subsequent posts.

Follow me and see 5 ways by which anyone can begin to earn passive income.

1. Real Estate: Investment in Real estate is one of the major ways by which anyone can earn passive income. A large percentage of Wealthy people have assets in real estate. The basic income from Real Estate is called Rent. If you own high-net worth properties in great locations and you they are leased or rented out to tenants under a solid arrangement, then you can begin to earn rents for many years to come. In fact real estate is called the playground of the rich. Investment in real estate may vary from paid parking lots, residential properties or hotels to Event centres. Two major examples of people that play in this area are Donald Trump, an American billionaire and Dr. Dolf De Roos, a member of the board of directors at Avenues to Wealth International.

2. Automated Business: The Rich and Wealthy have been able to device a means of most times building from the scratch and at other times buying a successful Business System. An automated business simply is one which has been built over the years into a successful business systems. They are usually vary in size but are usually strong viable brands with business processes and concepts developed and established over the years. A business franchise like MacDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken KFC is an example of an Automated business. It usually takes an average of 5 to 10 years to build a successful Business System (and according to Business experts, this is still the first phase of its growth and development).However, you might buy a franchise of an already success business. Names that come to mind when you think of building great business brands are Bill Gates of Microsoft, late Steve Jobs of Apple, Aliko Dangote of Dangote Group in Nigeria etc. One major income from this is director bonus.

3. Paper Assets: The Income earned from paper assets is dividends and some time, bonuses and capital appreciation. Another great way to earn passive income is ownership of stocks, treasury bills and bonds. People who earn tangible income from this usually hold sizable shares of blue chip companies from which they begin to earn passive income. Ownership of stocks in this regard will usually be millions or billions of units. When you think of paper assets one major name that comes to mind is Warren Buffet.

4. Intellectual Property: Intellectual property has been and will continue to be a great way by which people rise to great wealth. This is where through a viable idea, in form of a patent or invention, a man continues to be earn passive income most times for the rest of his life. The minimum patent year for some inventions is 17 -20 years. The form of money earned from intellectually property is called Royalty. More popular forms of intellectual property are having Copyrights to a best-selling book, an A list song or Album or Movie. And with recent trend of technology one can strike it rich from royalty by developing a resourceful software or application. Here you want to think of web developers/ Founders of Tech Start up Companies like David Karp of Tumblr, Jan Koum and Brain Acton creators of Whatsapp. Also Musicians or song writers earning royalties from songs written years ago and J. K Rowling the writer of the popular Harry Potter books are example of people making wealth from Intellectual Property

5. Network Marketing or Multi-Level Marketing(MLM) : The Network Marketing Industry has produced more millionaires than any other industry in the world within the shortest possible time. As a matter of fact huge companies are now going MLM as they have discovered it’s a great way to move their products and services within a vast number of people. The network marketing industry has been around for over 50 years and it is continually gaining momentum. Great entrepreneurs like Richard Branson and Warren Buffet have been recently know to invest in some MLM companies Network Marketing is a great way anyone can create passive income even become financially free in the right company with the right MLM program and rewards system. It is a business model that helps the poor and the middle class move out of the rat race begin a journey to Financial Freedom.

How to Grow a Big Stressless Team
It is true that there is no comparable substitute for hard work, the only other substitute is hard life! There is however smart work, which involved the mixture of activity and wisdom. It pains me deeply when I see people waiting idly for an opportunity to later give excuses in life. If others can make it with this opportunity, so can you. It's not about who got in first, or when someone became a distributor. It's about what you did when you got the opportunity, and wether or not you are building with wisdom.
If anybody you know has made it in this business. . . then you can make it as well. People have bought brand new cars, some have travelled on vacations they could only dream of, others still have built their own houses - some are in the process, and there are people who have earned amounts just in the cooperative that have been mouth watering. If they can do it, so can you. The good news, is there is a simple way to do it as well.
The secret of this business is not how many people you are able to tell, contrary to popular belief. Trust me on this, it's based on the following basic factors
Your ability to build a team
Your ability to teach your team simple things to do
Your ability to do simple easy to copy things, not super star things
Your ability to stay upbeat and have a good attitude
Your ability to keep reading and keep learning
Your having a dream coupled with a burning desire
Regular daily activity
These things may seem simple, but success, stressless success is a function of how you manage to do these things daily. If you are building this business well, then you can afford to give yourself complete rest for one week, and still earn exciting income. In the next update, we'll be discussing in clearer detail about these basic things.

THE JOURNEY: STARTING THE JOURNEY TO WEALTH

It's a great day! And it is so nice to continue the Journey series from another perspective from where we left off.This weekend, I am privileged to have Fola Adelesi's kind permission to share a great piece from his recent writing on the blog today. Do have a great time on the journey.

When you are going on a long journey one of the most important things you will do is to pack your bags. You want to be sure that you have all that is needed for the journey because you don’t want to be stranded anywhere. Many of us start our journey in life with the intention to succeed and be rich but we don’t pack the bags needed with the right things? Or maybe I should ask you questions? What kind of bag do you think you need when starting the journey to wealth and what should you pack into the bag? The bag you need is your mind!

While the bag we need is the mind, many of us have been packing the wrong things – things that will never make us rich – into those bags and we expect to become rich simply because we already have those things in our bags.

At this point it is Important for us to start an unlearning and relearning process before we begin the journey to wealth together. Forget all the wrong things you have learnt about working very hard after getting a degree. That is not to say you should not get a degree or work very hard but they may never make you a wealthy person! If you want to be rich the first thing you have to deal with is your mind. It is like the law of the lid as proposed by John C. Maxwell. The law of the lid simply explains how a leader cannot lead people beyond his capacity. If I can extend the law of the lid into wealth then you should already know it means that you or no man can be richer than the content or the capacity of his mind.

When you go to an ATM machine, it will only continue to dispense money when there is money in it. The machine cannot produce more than the amount of money kept in it. Once the money kept in it is exhausted you will have to load it with money before it can continue dispensing money. This is the same with your mind. If you want to be rich then start with your mind. The wealth you can produce is proportionate to the wealth your mind can create! If your mind cannot create wealth then you will keep running after shadows and will do that for years! That is why people are paid off in their offices – they are suddenly seeing a lot of money for the first time and they don’t know what to do with it. Some others think they know what to do but after a few years they realize that they didn’t actually multiply the money they got. They only spent it or just ‘practically buried it.’

Go and train your mind. Don’t assume you know all that must be done or what you need to do per time. Spend some time learning about money in other to see how it works and how to make, manage and multiply money. Stretch your mind by learning from those who have made money and are still making money. Learn from those who have made money but lost it all so that you will not make their mistakes. If you take these things serious then it means that you are truly ready for the journey to wealth.

Remember that many travel in the bid to find wealth but they return without the little they had even before starting. It will not be nice for you to struggle and to see all your struggles coming to nothing! Go and equip your mind before starting the journey to wealth!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING !

There is nothing as wonderful as a culture of gratitude. Gratitude is the greatest of all attitude for success in work and living. Whatever we do not thank God we cannot appreciate and whatever does not appreciate depreciates.It's always good to give thanks to God for life and all the wonderful things in life.

Today is Thanksgiving, a national Holiday in the United States. Thanksgiving is always celebrated in America on the fourth Thursday of the month of November , most families will always sit round the traditional turkey in a wonderful meal, while they appreciate the blessings of the harvest and the previous season. This was fixed by Presidential proclamation

Whatever you thank God for will always increase and multiply.

Despite all the happenings around, if we look around through the lens of gratitude and think deeply, we will find that we have numerous reasons to always give thanks, either for the material blessings and the unquantifiable, immaterial but highly essential blessings of life.

On this note I wish every one a happy Thanksgiving!

A Journey To The Promised Land

Where is the promise land and what does it connote? From the popular story of the Israelites, we can find some important answers to these questions of great importance.

Israel is a covenant nation. The Israelites are a special people, long ago God of heaven and earth made a covenant with a man an elderly man from an area around Pakistan. He demanded a relationship from Him and that if he served and obey Him- The Jehovah El-Shaddai, he was not only going to have a son in His old age, but that He will become a nation ,He will be blessed and nations through him.

And so this man became the friend of the Almighty God because He believed every word even when he could have easily doubted…And yes! God did keep all his words because He is a Covenant Keeper. This man man and his wife in due time not only had a son, but He became a mighty nation- the nation of Israel. This man was Abraham.

Between each step of these promises were many events and obstacles which occurred at one time or the other

It happened that the people of Israel once sojourned in Egypt in the best part of the country called Goshen, it was almost like a Government Reserved Area (GRA) or Goshen Reserved Area if you like.

Not long after their brother Joseph who consulted for the Government of Egypt and acted in a great capacity as Prime Minister among other vital roles implementing great policies and all that. However, they were maltreated by the new government who cared less about antecedents. The special people became slaves in a strange land.

But Remember… God had a plan… He still had a covenant in place.

So he brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand…there was great outbreak of the acts of God in Egypt… Until the Government couldn’t hold them anymore…

God raised a unique Leader called Moses and they embarked on their Journey to the promise land – a land flowing with milk and honey!

The journey was not without its challenges and diverse pains… its pains most of which were self inflicted. God tested them each step of the way… amidst fights, battles, losses and groundbreaking victories. He taught them patience, He taught them obedience, He taught them warfare, endurance and above all how to live by faith every step of the way and not lose hope…they had change in leadership, rules were made, rules were broken and of course with grave consequences, there were new births, fresh opportunities to right the past… until they were brought into the promised land. This is the land flowing with milk and honey

Let's take a cue from this historical journey, as we move towards our goals and aspiration in live. You are not alone if God is involved.

Do not give up on the journey!
