THE JOURNEY: STARTING THE JOURNEY TO WEALTH

It's a great day! And it is so nice to continue the Journey series from another perspective from where we left off.This weekend, I am privileged to have Fola Adelesi's kind permission to share a great piece from his recent writing on the blog today. Do have a great time on the journey.

When you are going on a long journey one of the most important things you will do is to pack your bags. You want to be sure that you have all that is needed for the journey because you don’t want to be stranded anywhere. Many of us start our journey in life with the intention to succeed and be rich but we don’t pack the bags needed with the right things? Or maybe I should ask you questions? What kind of bag do you think you need when starting the journey to wealth and what should you pack into the bag? The bag you need is your mind!

While the bag we need is the mind, many of us have been packing the wrong things – things that will never make us rich – into those bags and we expect to become rich simply because we already have those things in our bags.

At this point it is Important for us to start an unlearning and relearning process before we begin the journey to wealth together. Forget all the wrong things you have learnt about working very hard after getting a degree. That is not to say you should not get a degree or work very hard but they may never make you a wealthy person! If you want to be rich the first thing you have to deal with is your mind. It is like the law of the lid as proposed by John C. Maxwell. The law of the lid simply explains how a leader cannot lead people beyond his capacity. If I can extend the law of the lid into wealth then you should already know it means that you or no man can be richer than the content or the capacity of his mind.

When you go to an ATM machine, it will only continue to dispense money when there is money in it. The machine cannot produce more than the amount of money kept in it. Once the money kept in it is exhausted you will have to load it with money before it can continue dispensing money. This is the same with your mind. If you want to be rich then start with your mind. The wealth you can produce is proportionate to the wealth your mind can create! If your mind cannot create wealth then you will keep running after shadows and will do that for years! That is why people are paid off in their offices – they are suddenly seeing a lot of money for the first time and they don’t know what to do with it. Some others think they know what to do but after a few years they realize that they didn’t actually multiply the money they got. They only spent it or just ‘practically buried it.’

Go and train your mind. Don’t assume you know all that must be done or what you need to do per time. Spend some time learning about money in other to see how it works and how to make, manage and multiply money. Stretch your mind by learning from those who have made money and are still making money. Learn from those who have made money but lost it all so that you will not make their mistakes. If you take these things serious then it means that you are truly ready for the journey to wealth.

Remember that many travel in the bid to find wealth but they return without the little they had even before starting. It will not be nice for you to struggle and to see all your struggles coming to nothing! Go and equip your mind before starting the journey to wealth!

A Journey To The Promised Land

Where is the promise land and what does it connote? From the popular story of the Israelites, we can find some important answers to these questions of great importance.

Israel is a covenant nation. The Israelites are a special people, long ago God of heaven and earth made a covenant with a man an elderly man from an area around Pakistan. He demanded a relationship from Him and that if he served and obey Him- The Jehovah El-Shaddai, he was not only going to have a son in His old age, but that He will become a nation ,He will be blessed and nations through him.

And so this man became the friend of the Almighty God because He believed every word even when he could have easily doubted…And yes! God did keep all his words because He is a Covenant Keeper. This man man and his wife in due time not only had a son, but He became a mighty nation- the nation of Israel. This man was Abraham.

Between each step of these promises were many events and obstacles which occurred at one time or the other

It happened that the people of Israel once sojourned in Egypt in the best part of the country called Goshen, it was almost like a Government Reserved Area (GRA) or Goshen Reserved Area if you like.

Not long after their brother Joseph who consulted for the Government of Egypt and acted in a great capacity as Prime Minister among other vital roles implementing great policies and all that. However, they were maltreated by the new government who cared less about antecedents. The special people became slaves in a strange land.

But Remember… God had a plan… He still had a covenant in place.

So he brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand…there was great outbreak of the acts of God in Egypt… Until the Government couldn’t hold them anymore…

God raised a unique Leader called Moses and they embarked on their Journey to the promise land – a land flowing with milk and honey!

The journey was not without its challenges and diverse pains… its pains most of which were self inflicted. God tested them each step of the way… amidst fights, battles, losses and groundbreaking victories. He taught them patience, He taught them obedience, He taught them warfare, endurance and above all how to live by faith every step of the way and not lose hope…they had change in leadership, rules were made, rules were broken and of course with grave consequences, there were new births, fresh opportunities to right the past… until they were brought into the promised land. This is the land flowing with milk and honey

Let's take a cue from this historical journey, as we move towards our goals and aspiration in live. You are not alone if God is involved.

Do not give up on the journey!

The Journey:Your Roadmap

How are you friends? It's good to be here again with another inspiring story. Today I bring a touch of spirituality into my writing as we continue the journey series. Happy Sunday! and be blessed!

Every journey begins with a plan. It might be a map or a strategy or route map. It all starts with a plan.Your R oadmap is clearly a detailed plan of your journey. The saying is true, 'if you do not know where you are going, any road will lead there" The story of a young boy and his Dad comes to mind at this point, I read this story (The way to Life: THE MAP)as a young boy in the junior school see excerpts below:

THE WAY

The little boy watches his father studying a city map. The boy asks, "Why do you need a Map?" "Because we're going where we've never been before. Perhaps I can find work in this city," replies his father. The boy thinks more. Suddenly he says, "Father, my birthday is coming soon. I shouldn't ask for much, but there is one thing you can give me." "I'll give you whatever I can, son. What is it you want?" The boy answers, "A map."

The father is puzzled. "Why do you want a map?"

The boy explains, "Because I am growing older. I will be going where I have never been before. And you said, 'For that, one needs a map'."

Suppose you are the boy's father or mother. What would you give to meet your son's need for a sense of direction in life?

Why Consider The Bible?

Consider the Bible as the Map for life. Its wisdom spans many centuries, yet millions today find its message as fresh and relevant as ever. They find that its principles work in daily life - in every stage of life. They discover purpose for living. That purpose gives them hope for now and for the future - even beyond this life. They believe in a home with God forever. In other words, they believe the Bible when it claims to speak for God.

In seeking a map for life, consider the Bible's claims. Again and again, it assures us that it is the pure word from our Maker. Yes, the Map for life.

In over 2,000 places the prophets of the Bible say things like this: The Lord said to me . . .

These are the words of the Lord . . .

This is what the Lord says . . .

The Journey: Your Choice

We have limits to what we can do. At some point there has to be an informed personal choice. Jim Geringer

The beginning of a Journey is very important and as such it should not be left to chance rather than to choice. Understand. This is not their journey, not our journey, but Yours! The journey, my friend, might be any of these later on or hereafter but first of all. It is your own personal journey and must be seen as such.

You should not make a mistake most people make, going on another man's journey or embarking on an unintended journey. As humans the greatest power entrusted to us by our creator is the ability to choose. And this is the key factor at the beginning of the journey. The journey is all about Choices and this is totally yours!

The category of choices are all in When, why, what and where.

The choices You make on the journey will vary from ;

choice of when , choice of why , choice of what, and the choice of where

1. The choice of when-Timing: Timing answers a key question in every project or task- this is the question of Time. When will you embark on your journey, when will you get there and when will you make every important decision there is to be made? Remember our life is measured in the units of time, the past, the present and the future.

2. Choice of Why: Vision: This is another vital point. It is in actual fact about the most important on your journey to greatness,this is your decision based on the reason for embarking on a journey. This is where your vision is cast.Why do you want to be financially free, why do you want to be rich, why do you want to be more spiritual, more informed why do you want to be exceptionally great? Your vision must be clear if you must embark on your own journey!

3. The choice of what-Mission:Every great organisation, or super achiever in every sphere of life, apart from having a clear vision, will also always have a solid mission. since we have all got different needs,wants and driving desires or aspirations, so also our mission might not always be the same. The journey's mission is your motivating force and it will propel you to take the bulls by the horn and at times take the leap of faith and become unstoppable.

4.The choice of where-Purpose and Direction: Although this is always the first choice to be made, as the whole world will always step aside for she who knows where she is going. If you know where you are going the work is have done and the problem, half solved.

Once again,remember that, those who walk, walk with many, those who run, run with few and those who fly will always fly alone! This is your God ordained journey and you will be responsible for your final choices that you make. I wish you all the best.

1|THE JOURNEY BEGINS…

“Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone's hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.” ― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Whether It’s a trip to the ends of the earth, or a short dash to the motor park it’s all a journey. Life is constituted of a myriad of reasons and forms of journeys, the journey to success; to greatness, self discovery or self actualization. Life in itself is one of such journeys- the journey of all journeys. This is the Journey of life.

I will advice we all fasten our seat belts and say a short prayer of faith at this juncture as we both embark on a metaphoric journey together to the land of greatness and self discovery, through this great channel of Inspiration and Motivation. Surely, God is our guide on this journey. We can be sure of a safe arrival at our desired destination.

While every journey will always have a route, we hope ours will have a straight route too, however there might be short stops, planned or unplanned, detours might be considered, bends negotiated and off course different stops for different passengers in the imaginary travel bus. However, like every journey, new realities might and will usually unfold. We make new friends, meet new people and discover our weaknesses and yet strengths we never knew we always had.

Cheer up! It’s all a journey after all, except for a few who might not like hitting the road, but who doesn’t like a sense of new adventure? And the very thought of widening your horizon, discovering unexplored planes… seeing a new vista, triggers the whole thrill!

Remember, if you have a destination in mind and you are willing to take action- the very first step, the journey begins….
