On International Women's Day.

International Women's Day.
I am a member of the USA International Resource Center (IRC) Library in Lagos Nigeria, as such I am privileged not only to have access to some great resources but I have been privileged to attend different events graced by great resource persons.
Tuesday 8th March was the international Women's Day for 2016 and as part of activities lined up by the United States Public Affairs was a programme held on Tuesday the highlight of which was a keynote address by Nigeria's first female Presidential candidate Professor Oluremi Sonaiya a retired professor of French and Applied linguistics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
The meeting was well attended by members, founders of different NGOs, and media houses. Also in attendance were the Public Affairs Officer of the US Public Affairs, The Consulate General, Mr John Bray, Toyosi Akerele,CEO Rise Network, Abiola Salami, CEO I am a Champ group, Mr Kolawole Publisher of The Illectual magazine and many more.

The central theme of the event was to celebrate women and to engender more participation of women in politics just as in every sphere of the society.

It was a great event at the US Consulate.

Cheers!
