SUPER EAGLES' VICTORY: 160 MILLION REASONS TO BELIEVE IN NIGERIA !

Warning? This post is mainly on sports *smiles* sorry I had to take a break from our recent thread to bring in this piece.Enjoy!

I am writing and dedicating today’s post to Nigerian Super Eagles’ victory.

I am sure you know by now that this isn’t a blog on sport, and asides that, writing on sports isn’t my strong point (Oops! Did I just spill a secret?)anyways I am not the regular sport analyst or a soccer 'fanatic', yet that doesn't mean I don’t’ enjoy watching a good game, especially when its a great match like when my favorite Manchester United FC slugged it out with Chelsea FC or Arsenal in the European League or most importantly when our country’s national team the Super Eagles of Nigeria mercilessly crushed Burkina Faso at the finals of the, African Cup of Nations,AFCON in South Africa, yesterday!

The AFCON which started a couple of weeks ago finally came to a glorious end yesterday.

The high point of it all is that our own Nigerian Super Eagles won the Burkina Faso in the finals in a 1-0 victory.

The Eagles’ journey in this competition had been a surprising one. Apart from the fact that I ‘watched’ all the matches (except the finals ) online- right from work (smiles),I never knew they could come up strong in the end, After the first match that ended in a draw, everyone’s hope in the team had shrunk totally and personally my expectation of the team wasn’t high after all. In fact I saw many Nigerians over the social media call them ‘super chickens’ amongst other names, all to show a form of disappointment in the team.

What really rekindled this hope was when they won their match against Cote de Ivoire, in a 2-1 victory and got their ticket from the quarter finals to the semi finals, it was just like a twist of fate, and alas! almost everyone’s faith in the Eagles kept rising once again.

And it was a great and momentous victory yesterday when they did just that and lived up to the expectations of Nigerians who believed, Nigeria could still make history again and win the trophy for the third time.

I watched passionately yesterday alongside other viewer’s at the mesh, and with many patriotic Nigerian’s watching from different parts of the world, there was an uproar when the golden man of the match Sunday Mba, shot out like a bolt and made the winning goal in the first half, I tweeted in euphoria and also watched this same player occupy a ‘Worldwide Trend’ on twitter in that same hour!

The Eagles played so hard and well the game was filled with great tension –remember, I am not a sport analyst here, and of course, I will not forget the great save by Vincent Enyeama when the Burkina did try their best so hard. Stephen Keshi-The Big Boss did a great Job! And I will not forget to recount how much he dazzled me with his nice command of de langue de Francais during the interview/briefing after the match.

Different Fireworks from the ecstatic live crowd of Nigerians at the Soccer City in Johannesburg, South Africa and the gyrating crowd viewing the game from Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos state all painted a joyful scene and the euphoria shared by all yesterday night, and like someone said ‘One good reason for Nigerians to be happy together’ i could also hear some ‘patriotic’ ones also demanding or expecting a public holiday.

To all the great players of the Nigerian Super Eagles, our own legendary Stephen Keshi ( you see one more reason ,why I still will always stick with homemade or home cooked recipes!*smiles*) and off course to about 160 million Nigerians, I say a hearty congratulations! And I hope I get a ticket to attend the banquet at the Presidential villa on Tuesday! *winks*

What does it mean to clear the clutter?

The year is rolling bye just as good as January is gone.I will continue to shed more lights on action steps to making the best of the New Year; you can read the 7 tips for a great new year here.

The important tip for today is clearing the clutters.

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defined the word ‘clutter’ simply as ”a crowded or confused mass or collection”, in other words, it is anything that puts your life out of order or creates confusion or makes it crowded or lack organization. To clear the clutters therefore means ‘moving out the junks’ clearing out every thing that is unnecessary or that has no place in your life. Among other things, clearing the clutters means that you:

• Prioritize your life

• Organize your life(you might want to read my article on this here)

• Simplify your life

Clearing the clutters is a very important thing you should do not only in the New month or Year, but on a regular basis. I have identified some major areas in which you need to do this: Areas in which you need to clear the clutter

1. Clear the clutters in your thought life: Everything that goes on in you life starts at the level of your thought life, the quality of your life solely depends on the vibrancy of your thought life, hence the need to start by taking charge of this key area and weeding out any thought that is negative, pessimistic or that saps you of your energy and creativity. Thoughts to watch out for are that of fear, anxiety, rejection, depression filthiness or masturbation, one major not to allow negative thought to linger on in your mind. Spending time in prayer, meditating on God’s Word, reading motivational books, listening to good music and inspirational talks can be very helpful in this regard.

2. Clear the Clutters in your relationship: Life is all about relationships; Friendships, Fellowships, Partnerships, Courtships and more. When it comes to relationships most often than not you are always in charge of who enters and leaves the ‘ship’. On a regular basis, you will need to evaluate the various relationships in your life, define the expectations and responsibilities of the parties in it and also get rid of every negative alliance that kills your dreams or doesn’t help in making you a better person. Burn the bridges on unhealthy relationships that move you farther from God’s plan and purpose for your life.

You might also want to look into investing more time in family or spending more of your time with people who you care about and are important to you.

3. Clear the clutter in your finances: This is another vital part of your life, someone once said ‘money makes the world go round’. Allowing disorderliness in your life affects the level of freedom and peace you enjoy per time. Putting your life in a financial mess reduces your dignity and as a result your confidence and performance level. In fact financial problem is one of the major reasons for divorce and relationship break-ups today. Clearing the clutters as far as your finance is concerned means taking time to keep track of your finances through effective budgeting, offsetting debts and having a proper earning, savings and investment plan worked out.

It might be necessary to increase your financial intelligence by reading books on personal finance like Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, Richest Man in Babylon by George Clanson and other books, you might also need to employ the help of a financial adviser.

4.Clear the clutter in work and career: Here you might need to look inwards into eliminating poor work ethics or habits. You might want to pay attention to your work place or work environment or even clearing out unnecessary Mails or books and lots more. Evaluating projects to see the necessary and unnecessary ones might also help in this regard.

5. Clear the clutter in your health: once again health is wealth: This is where you need to make decisions that will improve your health by a great leap. You might want to set a regular time for visits to the Doctor, or to the gym, rather you might want top take up an health insurance policy or give up any unhealthy habit like smoking or poor eating habits. Whatever decision you make, be certain it makes you a healthier person.

Move into your strength zone.

Eyes that look are many but eyes that see are few. Seeing yourself in a new light gives you a sense of reality into who you are and it also positions you for peak performance. You are the hero; the champion, you are your only kind of breed that has ever been.

The best happenings of your life will happen outside your comfort zone. Staying in your comfort zone far too long does no one any good. Your comfort zone is the limiting cushioned box of potential..

Today you will choose to leave your comfort zone.

Many opportunities are rife outside your comfort zone.

This very place outside your comfort zone is your strength zone. It is like moving from the damp darkness into the bright light of reality that gives life to the chlorophyll of your dreams.

Outside here is where the sunshine is, here the wind blows; the clouds gather and release their full weight in rainfall.

Awake and arise from the slumbering nature of your comfortable shell. Step up to your strength zone. it is where the champions roll, Up beyond the skies, that’s where the Eagles soar. And up there is where you really belong.

CHANGE YOUR ZONEb>

In life you will always need to know when to call it ‘quit’ without being a quitter. You will need to really evaluate and see those who are the Feeders or Killers of your goals. You will always need to know when to say your ‘goodbye’ to folks, foes and friends and move on in the direction of your dreams. This is the point when you will choose whether to crawl, walk, run or fly. Thread carefully in the Valley of Decision…At this point you will fall on one of the two; your flight plan, your fight plan or both.

It wasn’t a very easy one for the caterpillar but it chose to move on and become a butterfly! Often times you will need to make a choice as well.

The Elastic never knew it could fit into the space until it was stretched. Not everyone will be as fortunate to have someone stretch them as the elastic, but we all will mostly have the opportunity to stretch ourselves- and if you have just read to this point, I think you just did exactly that. .

There is no limit to more amazing things that would happen if we stretch ourselves every day. Endeavour today to cross the thin line between your comfort zone into your strength zone

5. Spend time in Reflection; It is a nice thing to come away from the hustles and bustles of everyday life and reflect and think generally on life and all itself. Spending time to think and clear the head can boost your mental clarity and create a new sense of direction.

6. Pay attention to your health : Health is wealth, so goes the age-long saying. Your success is not complete if you are deficient in this one vital area. Being adept with your general health status and general well being is a good way to go. It’s good to mind your diet in terms of how it affects your energy level and health .You might also want to develop and follow a regular exercise regimen

7. Invest in Partnership: There are various forms of partnerships in the world as the case may be, but the scope of this discussion is you making the strongest partnership in the world. Make the most powerful partnership in the world this year. Partner with the Almighty GOD. He is the maker of the whole Universe and He has got the greatest plan for you.

These are great ways to start the new year and it is never late to start getting better.

WHAT TO DO WITH THE PROVERBIAL BOX?

The subject of our discussion,-the box; the nature of the box; thinking outside the box has lingered on for a while, and it is high time we finally did something about the box.

With many events like Christmas, New year etc. occurring since our rendezvous last year, a lot then must have happened that would afford us great opportunity to finally do something with the box. So here are my thoughts

• Walk out of the box

• Sit on the box

• Use the box

• Sell the box

• What if there is NO BOX???

Walk out of the box: If the box were a place of limitation, devoid of new ways of doing things, If it were a place of die-hard-no- tweaking conventions devoid of the need for innovation or the allure of creativity, then the best and principal action might be to just walk out of the box, and step unto a new plateau of reality where you can see the new horizon.

Sit on the box: I had this on my mind a while ago that what if you could actually sit on the box and use it as a seat of reflection? Or what if you could actually stand on the imaginary box that limits you to the conventions, and then use it as leverage.

That will really be a fun thing to do. Anyways, If I could I will seat on the box or stand on the box.

Use the box: Rather than being tied to the box, we could actually use the box in different ways that help us deliver a solution in the most creative or innovative ways, Christmas season is actually long gone, but I figure it might not be too late after all to give out a new year gift to friends, some old folks or anyone we care to send a box full of gifts.

Sell the box: What then if this box were redesigned and worked into a great piece with some value to it, then it could actually be put up for sale at a price to any buyer who could find much use for it in its newest form. So I might as well sell the box!

What If there was no box After all? : Yes, we all have heard about ‘thinking outside the box and we have both explored the nature of the box in the past few weeks, but what if there was no box at all, what if the proverbial box had actually never existed? What if the box only existed in our thoughts and imaginations? Then the action point would be to destroy the box and every other thing that holds us back from reaching out for the greatness that we are capable of!

The proverbial box therefore, could mean many things to many people. No matter what, you can always do something with the box, you could walk out of the box, sit on it , destroy it ,redesign it or sell it off in its best form.

WELCOME TO 2013 !

Thank God for a wonderful new year! Funny though as it may seem, It’s my first post this year and I am finally able to push out a new year message to all our treasured readers from around the world.

THE NATURE OF THE BOX

My thought about the box has led me to write more about this topic and in the process I set out to find answers to the questions posed earlier in our earlier post.The basis for these questions is the cliche,'thinking outside the box'. The important question here is 'What is the nature of the box?'

The box is anything that limits or reduce our natural flow or expression..It is any lid on the total expression of our creativity, in other words, it could be an object out of our imaginations,it might be the object of our fears

More often than not,this limitation is one that has been placed by the society or the cultural environment in which we find ourselves, no matter how it appears the box is a dream killer.

So what is the content of the box and of what stuff is it made of? The content of the box isn't of much difference form its nature ,the box has in myriads of reasons not to take the first leap in the right direction,it is full of reasons for not getting things done right away and enough excuse to procrastinate. Also found inside this box are the set norms which define our very existence and unhealthy ways of thinking which has blighted our views...

We may now begin to think about the location of the box...Its location is not hidden and its dimension not confusing for we are the ones who determine the length, breadth and width of the box which blanks our minds from possibility thinking.
